OX-BOW The Second Century - Since its founding in 1910, Ox-Bow has played a significant part of the makeup of the West Michigan Community. In naming Saugatuck/Douglas as "Preserve American Communities," theWhite House awarded "Ox-Bow with attracting well known artists and architects to the area, resulting in an influx of building and a renewed arts and culture based economy." Today, Saugatuck/Douglas is known as the Art Coast of Michigan and Ox-Bow continues to lead West Michigan's cultural growth. Ox-Bow is a Michigan based non profit organization whose 1st priority is excellence in art education. With it's relationship of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, it provides a high level of instruction without the traditional academic setting. This enable students and artists to spend their time at Ox-Bow immersed in their work while living on the shores of beautiful Lake Michigan and enjoying the 115-acres of natural landscape & historic buildings
Ox-Bow will be celebrating their centennial in 2010, & they are committed to protecting the pristine landscape & the historic buildings that make Ox-Bow's campus so unique. Additional buildings are being added & designed to meet the needs of artists & also, scholarship opportunities are available to those who wish to pursue classes at Ox-Bow. A four million dollar Campaign for the Second Century is being raised to achieve those goals & Ox-Bow has already gotten over 30% of that goal of four million!!!! And with your help they can reach it. A gift to Ox-Bow will help to preserve this cultural treasure. For more info about Ox-Bow or to contribute online, please click here Ox-Bow. Thanks!
