November is here and with The Holidays fast approaching "The Murphys" have settled in nicely to the Saugatuck/Douglas area. Cool weather and shorter days. Don't Forget to Move your Clock back 1 hour on November 4th Daylight Savings Time!!!!! Our "Leap" from Naperville, Il to Michigan a year ago has been a rewarding experience both personally and business wise. "Leap!" What will we do with the Rest of our Lives? a book written by Sara Davidson is a contemporary look at the choices and challenges we face and roads open to us as a generation coming-of-age. My husband, Pat & I decided on how we wanted to spend our coming years. Our "Life" has played out like a Tony Award winning play. First Act was set in Chicago for 55 years. Second Act with "Winning Performances" in Saugatuck, Douglas, Michigan. Contact us by email to find out "Behind the Scenes" how we took the Risks, did the Research, tested the waters & how to "Trust your Instincts" in deciding where & how you want to spend the latter part of your lives. Dr. Andrew Weil says essentially the same about us booming genre: "Don't fight it. Get used to it. Accept and embrace it. Take care of your health and sanity while making the best of new opportunities."
Check out the Calendar of Events on my web site to find out what's happening in and around the Saugatuck/Douglas area this Holiday Season. Everything from Wine Dinners at local restaurants, Kicking off the Holiday Season, Comedy, Music & Children's Film Festival at our great Sauatuck Center for the Arts and much, much more...... Now, back to Thanksgiving. As our families gratefully anticipate sharing with each other and others less fortunate this Thanksgiving let us select nourishing food choices to grace our family table. Wholegrain breads, fresh fruits and vegetables are the healthy choices despite the fact of all the fast foods out there! Recognize that paying a little more for truly nutritious chemical-free foods pays huge dividends in personal and global health. Rememeber to support local farmers and food purveyors. Thinking globally and eating locally will likely change your life. Check out last month's Gourmet magazine recognizing West Michigan's Journeyman Cafe' as one of America's top 100 farm-to-table restaurants. No wonder it's one of Pat's & my all-time favorite places to eat. Remember to live and eat more mindfully, to slow down and savor the moment. Bring this experience to our Thanksgiving spread will surely make it exceptionably yummy!!! Wishing you many blessings and nourishing, deeply satisfying days of Thanksgiving. Don't forget to email us with any questions or feedback you may have in the future. Would love to hear from you!
